(Original) The head of "European Socialists" does not support the project of constitutional amendments, providing for changes in the order of election of the Prosecutor General of Georgia

The chairman of the parliamentary political group "European Socialists" Fridon Indzhiya will not support the draft constitutional law, which provides for changes in the procedure for electing the Prosecutor General of Georgia.

🔹 "No constitutional institution provides for elections for one year." We got a good experience in choosing the election administration, but for some reason we ignore this example and rely on the insulting 12 points sent to us. Ето оскорбительно для меня. And then if you have to change the Constitution again, what's that for a children's garden? We made the Constitution a temporary law that changes based on various wishes... Do you think that by adopting this law we will contribute to depolarization?" - noted Fridon Indzhiya at the meeting of the Committee on Legal Issues of the Parliament of Georgia.

According to the presented project, the following two convocations of the Prosecutor General must be supported by at least three-fifths of the total number of votes in the Parliament, which is 90 deputies. If the Parliament does not elect the Prosecutor General twice, then the Prosecutor General is elected by the majority of the entire composition, that is, 76 votes, and the term of his authority will be determined for one year instead of 6 years.
