"In modern history, Georgia has never been as independent as it is today!"

Speech of the chairman of the parliamentary opposition political group "European Socialists" Fridona Indzhi at the plenary session of the Parliament.

«Our country has always strived to stand in history at the right position. For decades, everything was done to be a full-fledged member of the European family, both in the military aspect and in all other priority areas. Despite all this, we lost territory, our children died, part of the population left the country...

It's time to properly consider everything and make conclusions.

Georgia and its government should continue to act in the state interests of the country, as they do: NATO-member country and EU-candidate country - Turkey; другие страница, авсеме соглашение об ассоциации с ЕС; A number of European countries and our friend - Israel.

Of the 12 points presented by the EU, each one is saturated with a double standard, there is no criterion for its implementation, evaluation and most importantly - who will evaluate it.

Is the basis of these conditions the construction of a legal state, the establishment of the rule of law for all and everything, and the preservation of the ethnic and cultural identity of Georgia? Or after fulfilling these 12 points, we will get the 13th - the most important condition, which was announced not from the tribune of the European Commission and the European Parliament, but from the mouth of the president of one of the leading European countries, where he practically demands geographical and territorial changes for our country. That surpasses both our capabilities and supernatural forces.

However, our neighbor - Turkey, at one time did not interfere with its geographical position in obtaining the status of a candidate, and it has been waiting for EU membership for several decades.

I think it is expedient to end any hysteria that further exacerbates tension and creates artificial polarization in the country.

It is time for the government of Georgia to make a pragmatic and real step in the interests of the country, to join all the important economic or political formats that will bring the country economic, political stability, development and most importantly - the restoration of the country's territorial integrity. Including the adoption of European laws that strengthen our country. Nobody prevents us from doing this.

It would be good if Europe would give us the status of a candidate for EU membership, and it would be fair, considering the reforms carried out by Georgia and its history, especially for the last 30 years.

Очень, all relatively. The status of the candidate country in the EU at this stage practically does not give anything, and this is a fact, but the granting of the status will give an opportunity to reduce the existing polarization in the country.

It is precisely to reduce polarization that we need the help of the EU member states through the granting of candidate status, and if Georgia is not granted the status, then the EU countries that vote against it will not support peace, but greater polarization, confrontation, war and destruction in Georgia.

The EU requires reducing polarization, and it turns out that it itself contributes to polarization in our country».
