The chairman of the parliamentary political group "European Socialists" Fridon Injia spoke about the high rate of inflation in the country and the necessary steps to be taken by the state on the live broadcast of "Georgian Times" radio.
The chairman of the political group believes that one of the reasons for today's high inflation is the inflationary processes in the world, however, according to him, the government should take decisive steps in 4-5 key sectors of the country to alleviate the situation of the population.
"In all countries of the world today there is high inflation and in principle it is interconnected. Inflation 13.9% is very high, and it is very painful for our population. If the authorities and the government do not take a certain part of the help and the needs of the peasants, the population will be in a difficult situation. A lot can be done for this, the same in the banking sector... I had a meeting in the format of the parliamentary opposition factions and the ruling team in the government administration, where I raised the issue that it is necessary to have at least one state bank in the state, even one pharmaceutical production... and the monopoly that exists in these sectors It will go down immediately. This should be done by the government, no one is preventing it, but they are not yet ready for it," Fridon Injia emphasized.
The deputy also believes that 50% of HPPs with a capacity of more than 10 megawatts should be owned by the state, and then the state will be able to regulate the tariff itself and, at the same time, will be able to set certain benefits for the population who have difficulty paying the tax.
"We will continue to talk about these topics with the management team and the authorities. I had a conversation with the President of the National Bank about the banking sector, but I could not get an argumentation as to why this is not acceptable for our country, I could not understand why. By doing this, the interest rates, which are high and terrible, will be lowered for everyone, then at least one bank will give cheap loans to certain categories, and this will be a great relief. There are 4-5 directions in which the state can make its contribution and take it upon itself, otherwise the population will be in a difficult situation", said the MP.
