📍 Chairman of the political group “European Socialists” of the Parliament of Georgia, Fridon Injia, at the plenary session of the Parliament, positively assessed the growth trends of the state budget for 2023 and came up with a proposal that the Government of Georgia, and in particular, the Ministry of Finance should determine the distribution of financial profits in the budget according to pre-developed priorities in a specific area.
🔷 The chairman of the political group believes that if the Ministry of Finance will simultaneously be the fund-raiser, as well as the distributor and disposal of these funds in priority directions, it would be much better for the country’s economic development.
🔷 First Deputy Minister of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze presented the draft of amendments to the 2023 state budget in the highest legislative body on behalf of the government.
According to the presented changes, the 2023 state budget will increase by 500 million GEL.
🔷 “If it wasn’t for the policy that our government is conducting, there really wouldn’t be an opportunity to increase the budget. However, it should also be noted that much more can be done in terms of mobilizing more funds.
🔷 500 million GEL is not such a small amount, but if we distribute it in different areas, in different directions, in total, these areas will increase the funds very meagerly.
🔷 If there will be such a progress in the economic part in the future, should we not think of forming one specific priority direction so that the obtained profit is used entirely in one area.
🔷 For example, in particular, increasing salaries for teachers in the Ministry of Education. Of course, depending on the priority, it can be a medical field or another more priority direction.
🔷 As for the determination of priorities, in my opinion, the priority would be the field and direction, the majority of employees of which leave the country and emigrate due to low pay. Much has been said here that the vast majority of police officers have emigrated. For example, I would double the salaries of police officers so that they serve the country with dignity.
🔷 The same can be said about employees of the medical field. “It is a sad fact that highly qualified specialists in the medical field are leaving the country and emigrating for the same reason, due to low pay,” said the MP.
🔷 In his speech, the MP called on the Ministry of Finance to develop a special program of the kind that will help return talented, successful and hardworking youth to their homeland, who are unable or unable to return to Georgia. It would be very beneficial for the future of the country.
🔷 “If the work of the Ministry of Finance is formed in such a direction, which will simultaneously attract funds, as well as distribute and dispose of these funds in priority directions, it would be much better for our country.” – said Fridon Injia.
