📍 Chairman of the parliamentary political group “European Socialists” Fridon Injia spoke about the current problems in the Academy of Sciences at the session of the Education and Science Committee of the Parliament.
🔷 At the session of the Education and Science Committee of the Parliament, the draft laws of Georgia submitted by the member of the Parliament of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze as a legislative initiative were discussed: “On Amendments to the Law of Georgia on the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia” and “On Amendments to the Law of Georgia on Science, Technology and Their Development” on filing.”
🔷 According to the deputy, the Academy of Sciences and science in general have always had a worthy place in Georgia, and Georgia has always been proud of a number of institutions that existed during the Soviet Union period and even after that and did good things for the country. The building itself is also historical and may God restore the power that the scientists had at the time.
🔷 “Georgian people and the majority of the population of Georgia are carriers of the capacious gene for science. The Academy of Sciences, which existed during the Soviet Union period and after, was a source of pride for everyone. There were a number of institutes, for example, Institute of Mathematics, Institute of Physics, Professor Ramishvili, who is one of the founders of holography. I’m not talking about the Institute of Mathematics, Vequa School and so on. It was said here, and I agree, that there was an attempt to destroy the Academy of Sciences, because it was politics, which is unacceptable.
🔷 If we want our country to occupy a proper place in the region, we should support this in every possible way, especially since we have a ministry in the name of which we have education and science.
🔷 The financing of science should be increased at least five times, and for this we should take the example of such countries, which today really represent a face and are at a fairly high level of development. – said Fridon Injia.
