At the meeting of the Georgian parliamentary opposition with the delegation of the European Parliament, the head of the political group "European Socialists" Fridon Indzhiya asked questions of the European deputies about 12 points of the European Commission's resolution, which are of interest to the Georgian society as a whole.

  • The European Union has existed for several decades, and during this time, starting from 1957, it has included various states in its ranks. Today, the number of EU member states is 27.
  • During this time, the countries that joined the EU were not presented with complex requirements and conditions for obtaining candidate status. Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and others. The concept of candidate status did not even exist. What led to the necessity of introducing this status for Georgia today, and does the status of the candidate give the country more than what is already provided by the Association Agreement?
  • One of the requirements of the resolution is the adoption of the law on deoligarhization. It turns out that we have to adopt this law as a result of pressure, then explain to me how Moldova got the status of a candidate without adopting this law?
  • I am not talking about Ukraine, it is in a state of war... But Moldova, which has received the status, is a member state of CIS - Commonwealth of Independent States, and its military neutrality status is guaranteed by the Constitution.
  • At the same time, Georgia is ahead of Moldova in all parameters.
  • Georgia takes part in all military operations of NATO, and during this time 32 Georgian servicemen died, hundreds were wounded and maimed, they gave their lives for the security of the Euro-Atlantic space and the well-being of your life, unlike some EU countries that did not participate in such operations at all , and there is no mention of victims.
  • With this decision, you strengthened the opposition in our country, that is, polarization - a concept that you came up with in order to hand over power in Georgia to destructive forces that have neither support nor trust in the majority of the Georgian population.
