The new procedure for electing the head of the Central Intelligence Agency by the Parliament is not an effective and hindering factor in the work of the electoral commission, since in the absence of the necessary 90 votes, it is necessary to elect the chairman of the Central Intelligence Agency every 6 months. This is a step back for the ruling party.  

This was stated by the chairman of the parliamentary political group "European Socialists" Fridon Indzhiya at a meeting with the delegation of the Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (БДИПЧ) OSCE.

Speaking about the new package of changes in the electoral legislation, the chairman of the political group emphasized that the electoral process in 70% precincts will be held electronically.

"Based on this, it is important to control the electoral process on the remaining 30% precincts. It is necessary to have a special approach to this particular situation to avoid fraud", - noted Fridon Indzhiya.

According to his words, the use of administrative resources during elections remains a big problem, which manifests itself in pressure on voters.

"There should be a harsh method of punishment for the illegal use of an administrative resource so that no one thinks about it," Fridon Indzhiya said.

 "The countries of the European Union and some of their representatives here, using false slogans of democracy, are trying in a crude form to bring to Georgia an agenda that is relevant and promising for their countries, but dangerous for our country, which reflects not only their true intentions, but also a humiliating attitude towards Georgia and to the Georgian people.»

This was stated by the head of the political group "European Socialists" Fridon Indzhiya at the plenary session of the Parliament of Georgia during the hearing of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili.

According to the deputy, the Georgian people defeated the criminal regime of Saakashvili lobbied by Western partners in the parliamentary elections of 2012, 2016 and 2020 and showed that they will no longer allow evil to rule in Georgia.

"Don't you think that we voluntarily and selflessly strive for a union that will cause serious damage to our identity, for the preservation of which millions of our ancestors sacrificed themselves over the centuries? They are trying to take away the freedom and sovereignty gained from us with hard work", - said Fridon Indzhiya.

At the same time, he emphasized that it is necessary to take the necessary steps to make Georgia a strong state that can use both enemies and friends to solve their problems.

🔹 "I don't think that the changes related to the procedure for the election of the Prosecutor General of Georgia, which, at the request of the European Union, we should introduce in our Constitution, are close to logic. It turns out that the Constitution of Georgia for European structures is a game ball.

The chairman of the political group "European Socialists" Fridon Indzhiya announced this at the plenary session of the Parliament during the discussion of the draft law on the amendment to the Constitution, according to which the procedure for electing the Prosecutor General of Georgia changes.

According to the presented project, the following two convocations of the Prosecutor General must be supported by at least three-fifths of the total number of votes in the Parliament, which is 90 deputies. If the Parliament does not elect the country's Prosecutor General twice, then he is elected by the majority of the entire composition, that is, 76 votes, and his term of office will be determined for one year instead of 6 years.

🔹 Fridon Indzhiya emphasized that Georgia is already a candidate for membership in the European Union, as is Turkey, which submitted a corresponding application to the European Union in 1993.

🔹 "Do you know any country from the 27 member states of the European Union that changed its constitution at the request of the European Union? Is there a possibility that the European structures will make another letter, as was the case with the resolution of 12 points, in the development of which the Georgian authorities did not participate, and in the new letter they will already demand that the government be elected, a special investigative commission, an audit service and other questions were also resolved with the support of 90 votes. Are the rights of our country and people living in this country violated? It turns out that we accept the Constitution temporarily, and the Constitution of Georgia for European structures is a game ball," Fridon Indzhiya said.

"When you say that the Prime Minister of Georgia and all of us should be ashamed, because today Georgia is not at war, I ask the question - why should we be ashamed? Why don't I have the right to speak?"

With this question, a member of the political group "European Socialists", vice-speaker Avtandil Enukidze turned to the public defender Nino Lomdzhariya, speaking in the Parliament.

According to his words, rights are not only with the national defender.

"I'm not in the government, and if you want, I can start talking about those numerous personnel mistakes that this government has. But when you say that the prime minister and all of us should be ashamed because today Georgia is not at war, I wonder why? Is democracy only for those who stand behind you, and shouldn't everything be as they say? Why don't I have the right to speak? Explain why I should be ashamed? I'm not ashamed at all. Until this government somehow managed to prevent Russia from hitting us with its claws and pulling it into something. Большое спасибо им за это.

Do you think that by adopting this law we will contribute to depolarization?" - noted Fridon Indzhiya at the meeting of the Committee on Legal Issues of the Parliament of Georgia.
