Georgia’s accession to the European Union is crucial for Georgia’s future to take its rightful place in the region

🇬🇪 🇪🇺 Georgia’s accession to the European Union is crucial for Georgia’s future, to take its rightful place in the region.

🔹 Fridon Injia, chairman of the European Socialists parliamentary group on the issue of Georgia’s accession to the European Union, has launched an inter-agency state committee headed by Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.

🔹 As Fridon Injia stated at the plenary session of the Parliament of Georgia, this type of commission should be given an extraordinary right, which will be approved by the legislative body of the country.

🔹 “An important event took place in the history of Georgia. “We have received a questionnaire, after which the EU will issue a relevant conclusion on whether Georgia can be granted the status of a candidate for EU membership,” Fridon Injia said at the plenary session.

🔹 “I had imagined that a temporary inter-agency state committee or commission should be set up on this issue, which, of course, should be headed by the prime minister and the ruling party. “I think that this commission should be given an extraordinary right, which will be approved by the parliament, in order to take all the necessary measures as soon as possible,” Fridon Injia said.

🔹 According to him, Georgia’s accession to the European Union is crucial for Georgia’s future, to take its rightful place in the region.

🔹 “We have been given a unique chance and we should not miss this unique opportunity and everyone who can do their best should take part in it in order to accelerate this process,” Fridon Injia said.

🔹 Fridon Injia addressed some representatives of the opposition and called for their involvement in the process of rebuilding the country.

🔹 “I want to address some representatives of the opposition. Many of them are educated, responsible people. “I hope they will soon be released from certain obli

Georgia must be very careful in every statement, in every action, because the opponent is 40 kilometers away – Fridon Injia

👉 “Georgia must be very careful in every statement, in every action, because the opponent is 40 kilometers away.” – Fridon Injia.

🔹 Georgia must be very careful, pay attention to every statement, every action. No country is in the same situation as Georgia, because the opponent is 40 kilometers away. Moreover, Georgia went through two wars, as a result of which the country accepted that 20% is not within the jurisdiction of Georgia.

🔹 This was announced by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Political Group “European Socialists” Fridon Injia at a meeting with members of the delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defense Subcommittee in the country’s highest legislative body.

🔹 “We have had two major wars in 30 years. At the beginning of the 90s, the population of Georgia was 5 and a half million. Now the population of Georgia is about 3 million 700 thousand. Then 300 thousand people were found outside Georgia and in 2008 up to 100 thousand IDPs were added. “They have been relocated to other parts of the world, including Ukraine, and today refugees from Ukraine are coming here. Injia.

🔹 “We know very well what war means, because we are witnessing it directly. Therefore, our country deserves great caution, attention in every statement or action. “Especially since Georgia has passed two, as a result of which the country has accepted that 20% territories are not under the jurisdiction of Georgia,” Fridon Injia said at the meeting.

🔹 The meeting with MEPs focused on judicial reform in Georgia. As Fridon Injia pointed out, if a country wants to be a democratic state, the judiciary in such a country must be fair, highly professional, and must meet international standards. “It was no coincidence that out of the 12 candidates for the judiciary approved by the parliament, we, as representatives of the opposition party, supported only a few candidates, because we considered that the other candidates did not meet the challenges facing the state today,” said Fridon Injia.

🔹 The issue of Georgia’s accession to the European Union was also discussed at the meeting with the members of the European Parliament, in connection with which Fridon Injia said that Georgia expects a big test in this direction. “Georgia is facing a big test in terms of EU membership. The questionnaire, which has already been received by the Foreign Ministry, will be a test of what Georgia can do and how to meet this challenge, “said Fridon Injia.

Avtandil Enukidze, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, one of the leaders of the political group “European Socialists”, thinks that the statement of the Ukrainian Intelligence Service that smuggling goods through Georgia to the Russian Federation while Ukraine is wanted by the Georgian state is incorrect. Person.
Avtandil Enukidze stated about it at the meeting with journalists in the highest legislative body of the country.
. “Why do not you ask questions that Ukraine is in power wanted by the Georgian state. I wonder why this question is not heard by journalists in Georgia? It is a false statement about the smuggling of goods by the Ukrainian authorities when Ukraine has Adeishvili inside the government. “Let them answer us about that.”

“I know friendship is the same. If we are friends, we should be friends in everything, if we are looking for a position. If Saakashvili had not been imprisoned, they would have become president soon. This is the truth. “- said Avtandil Enukidze.

Legislative initiative of the European Socialists to simplify the procedure for obtaining Georgian citizenship for those who have emigrated

📍 Legislative initiative of the “European Socialists” to simplify the procedure for obtaining Georgian citizenship for those who have emigrated.

🔹 I would like to inform you about the members of the “European Socialists”, Messrs. Avtandil Enukidze, Davit Zilfimiani, Zaza Mikadze and my legislative initiative.

🔹 Our proposal concerns the amendments to the Organic Law on Citizenship of Georgia, which is due to many important factors.

🔹 According to the data of the National Statistics Office of Georgia for 2021, the population of Georgia is 3,728,573 people.

🔹 These population figures clearly convey the acute demographic and migration problems in our country over the last 30 years.

🔹 Particularly noteworthy is the mass emigration of the 1990s, which was followed by the difficult socio-economic situation and military conflicts in the country. Georgian citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, emigrated. Unfortunately, this process continues to this day and reaches an alarming rate.

🔹 The military-political controversy of the late twentieth century sparked another hotbed of migration. As a result of the conflicts in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region, the population of these regions has been cut off from the rest of Georgia for almost three decades, and their number is in the hundreds of thousands.

🔹 Along with the increased rate of emigration, there is also a decreasing trend in the return of emigrants. Emigrants, for a number of reasons, are unable to return to their homeland.

🔹 First of all, these reasons may include imperfect legislation and even artificially created barriers.

🔹 Not only those who have emigrated are torn from Georgia, but also their children, who are moving away from their native roots day by day.

🔹 The state is obliged to return and protect every person who has fled the difficult social, economic, conflict situation in the country, or was forced to leave the country, and at the same time, the state must give them the opportunity and motivation to return to Georgia.

🔹 The state is also obliged to provide financial assistance to the family returning from emigration, which is the subject of the next consideration.

🔹 The draft law prepared by the European Socialists aims to amend the Organic Law on Citizenship of Georgia, which will make it easier for people and their children who have left Georgia to obtain Georgian citizenship for a number of reasons, with new regulations, challenges and practical needs.

🔹 Although there are reservations in the Organic Law on Citizenship of Georgia, which in theory seem to simplify the procedures for obtaining citizenship, in practice, these records do not fully ensure its effective implementation. Which, unfortunately, leads to the heartache and frustration of going into emigration.

🔹 It is necessary to pursue a migration policy that unites people who have left Georgia and are scattered. They will show interest and motivation in our country so that they can finally return to their homeland with their children. They need to feel that the state cares about them. In this regard, we can cite the example of many other countries.

🔹 It is necessary to have reservations in the law, which will facilitate the acquisition of citizenship for people who want to return to their historical roots, so that there are no restrictions and barriers for them, such as complicated testing in the state language, Georgian history and law.

🔹 We believe that the implementation of such a policy by the state will help strengthen our country and improve the demographic issue.

🔹During the preparation of the bill, we consulted with various organizations, including state institutions, such as the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, the Presidential Administration, and we also consulted with individual MPs.

The main thing for the government is not to win the war but to prevent the war – Fridon Injia

“The main thing for the government is not to win the war, but to prevent the war” – Fridon Injia.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Political Group “European Socialists” Fridon Injia took part in a meeting between Jonathan Janoglli, the head of the Georgian-British Parliamentary Friendship Group, and other members of the delegation, which was held with the parliamentary opposition in the country’s highest legislative body. The meeting focused on the current political processes in Georgia, as well as the developments in Ukraine.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Political Group Fridon Injia noted with some heartache to the guests at the meeting that if there had been as much unanimity and support for Georgia in 2008 as the Ukrainian government has today, Georgia might not have lost the 20% territories and it is not ruled out There were no events at all.
“The main thing for the government is not to win the war, but to prevent the war. “Who has more danger, Kiev or Tbilisi, from which the opponent is 40 kilometers away, or Kiev, from where the opponent is hundreds of kilometers away, and the whole West actually supports him?” – said Fridon Injia at the meeting.
