The first meeting of the working group of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration, created in connection with the legislative initiative of "European Socialists" on the simplification of obtaining Georgian citizenship, took place in the highest legislative body of Georgia.

This initiative envisages amendments to the Organic Law "On Citizenship of Georgia". The bill was presented to the Committee for Human Rights and Civil Integration on September 15 by the head of the political group "European Socialists" Fridon Indzhiya.

The draft law is aimed at introducing such changes to the law "On citizenship of Georgia", which will facilitate the process of obtaining citizenship for persons who left the country for a number of reasons, and their children.

The Parliamentary Committee on human rights and civil integration showed interest in the idea itself, and for the purpose of systematic and comprehensive study of the issue, it decided to create a working group under the chairmanship of Fridon Indzhi.

In the course of the work, questions related to the verification of the level of knowledge of the state language and history of Georgia, as well as the principles of law necessary for granting citizenship, will be discussed.

The first meeting of the working group was attended by deputies of the highest legislative body, as well as representatives of the relevant executive bodies whose activities are related to the above-mentioned issues.

The next meeting of the working group will take place next week.
